Jim McGreevey: Victim and the cause of Suffering The Oprahication of the Jim McGreevey spectrum of scandal continues: Google News Search: McGreevey Suffer I heard a radio comment from a Democratic pol that I predicted yesterday -- arguing that he should not resign before November 15, 2004. He needs these 95 days. McGreevey has admitted to adultery which is not a crime. Let's help him get his life in order before he has to leave office. Joseph DeMarino knows there's a lot of suffering -- but who's causing it -- he's not going to say. "I'm not going to say anything now. The man has got enough to suffer. Everybody feels sorry for his family." McGreevey offers a public admission of a private non-criminal act. There's no guilt or shame in it, rather a note of pride "I am a gay American." -- an applause line if there ever was one -- and applause he did receive -- which is not what he admitted. What he should have said was "I am an adulterer." The polls and some comments through the filter of liberal media lead one to think that this was the kick-off for the reelection campaign and not the announcment of an intention to resign. Run, Jim, Run. Take the Clinton road: say "my wife forgives me and it's none of your business". Run, Jim, Run. And challenge the voters of New Jersey to forgive you and let the voters push their homophobia aside to reward your service to the state and leave your private life out of it.

New York Post: Con-Ed Tatoo A 26-year-old skateboarder is scarred for life after she fell onto a red-hot Con Edison manhole cover — mere blocks from the scene of a tragic death earlier this year when a woman stepped onto an electrified Con Ed cover. I wonder if she remembers the scene in Tibet at the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark where the Gestapo guy reaches for a medallion that's been cooking in the fireplace.

NRO Victor Davis Hanson on the election In short, the Left hates George W. Bush for who he is rather than what he does. Southern conservatism, evangelical Christianity, a black-and-white worldview, and a wealthy man's disdain for elite culture — none by itself earns hatred, of course, but each is a force multiplier of the other and so helps explain the evolution of disagreement into pathological venom.A wonderful summary.

More McGreevey Notes The act the Mcgreevey claimed was the reason for his announcement of intention to resign was "the affair". It's interesting that McGreevey chose this as the official reason:
If your wife Dina initiates a divorce, you can even get a second bite at the victim apple. Also, while not named by McGreevery, his alleged lover Golan Cipel denies he is homosexual or that an affair took place. They took a poll and his approval rating went up! AP: Poll: N.J. Governor's Approval Nudges Up Gov. James E. McGreevey's approval rating has not suffered since he announced that he had an affair with a man and will resign in November, a new poll showed Sunday. posted by Patrick Sweeney at 8:28 PM Permalink
Anti-abomination.com A website on the subject of the demolition of New York's Catholic Churches. Some of the churches were in poor repair, St. Anne's was not. It's still a mystery to me why this one was moved to the front of the demolition list.

The cover of this month's Catholic World News is an instant classic It features the texts and photos of Cardinal Ratzinger and Cardinal McGarrick. The former has a talk balloon with the work must highlighted and the later has a talk balloon with the McGarrick making the false characterization of Ratizinger's statement with whether highlight. The Catholic World News website is a paid subscription web site for much of the content. It is well worth the money if you are a regular reader of this blog. The only other paid web site I have is the Wall Street Journal
